Watercolor Jewelry Pendants with Artesprix Stamp Pads

Hi everyone, it’s Mandie from the Mandie’s Scrappin Blog and I’m so excited be back sharing another Guest Designer Post on the Artesprix Blog this term! I fell in love with Artesprix’s Iron-on-Ink a couple of years ago because I can create endless, fun custom pieces with stamps and stencils that are already in my collection. Earlier this year Artesprix added Jewelry Pendant Sublimation Blanks to their shop and I have been eager to work with them! Because they are small, they are perfect if using a Home Iron too!

What is Sublimation Iron-on-Ink?

Iron-on-Ink is an innovative craft sublimation medium to create unique designs that you can transfer to a endless selection of blanks. You can create some amazing one of a kind gifts that will last a lifetime. When the finished sublimation design is combined with heat and pressure, the ink turns into a gas and binds to the polyester fabric or poly-coated blank leaving you with a permanent transfer. Between Artesprix's plethora of Iron-on-Ink products and the endless amount of compatible sublimation blanks, the possibilities are endless! Iron-on-Inks are so fabulous because you don’t have to invest in an expensive printer to create some very cool projects right in your home! Plus, if you’re more “hands on” or “hands inky” like me, I feel you can get so much more creative with the Sublimation Inks, Paints and Markers that Artesprix offers.

Supplies:

Jewelry Pendants 2ct

Sublimation Stamp Pad

Protective Paper Roll

Heat Tape

Flower Stamps

Stamp Block

Paint Brush

Copy Paper

Heat Source

Step-by-Step Tutorial:

Step 1: Normally you would trace your blank onto a sheet of paper but I knew I was going to only use part of the image for my pendant, so I started by stamping my image using the Black Artesprix Sublimation Stamp Pad.

Step 2: Stamp multiple images to color and play with on the copy paper.

Step 3: Stamp the Sublimation Pad colors you want to use onto your acrylic stamp block to lay down some color. Then use paintbrushes with some water in the ink to create a watercolor effect within your stamped designs.

Pro Tip: Use any non-porous surface to stamp sublimation ink to use as watercolor.

Step 4: Continue to add as you prefer. You can also mix the colors just like paints. I layered more color in spots to create light and dark colors.

Step 5: Next I traced my pendant with a pencil to plan exactly which part of the image I wanted to use.

Step 6: Cut out the chosen transfers for the pendants, be sure to leave about an inch around each template

Step 7: Then apply the metal blank circular insert face down and secure the Heat Tape.

Step 8: Create your "sublimation sandwich". Use Protective Paper on top and bottom to absorb that excess ink from the transfer process.

Step 9: We are ready to transfer the design to your blank. Heat up your heat source or iron to the recommended settings. For this blank it’s recommended 400℉ for 45 seconds with heavy pressure.

Step 10: Once you’ve pressed your blank you can now do a "peek text", just lift the corner and see if your image has transferred. You’ll want to keep the tape in place in case you need to press again. In our case the color looks great and we can remove the paper from the blank.

Step 11: Peel the liner paper from the adhesive on the silver pendant base and adhere the personalized blank into it. Add a cord or chain and you have a beautiful piece of custom jewelry.
