Blank of the Month, Markers, Pillow Case, Stamp Pads

Hello again, it's Mandie from Mandie's Scrappin' and I have another fun Artesprix project on the blog today! I decided to create a fun winter themed pillow using some stamps from my stash and my Cricut for this month's Blank of the Month project. Each month Artesprix features a different Sublimation blank in their Shop and this month it is a standard Pillow Case. These are great to add some seasonal decor, they make perfect Trick or Treat bags too! Keep reading to see how I created this winter themed Pillow Case.

What is Sublimation Iron-on-Ink?

Iron-on-Ink is an innovative craft sublimation medium to create unique designs that you can transfer to a endless selection of blanks. You can create some amazing one-of-a-kind gifts that will last a lifetime. When the finished sublimation design is combined with heat and pressure, the ink turns into a gas and binds to the polyester fabric or poly-coated blank leaving you with a permanent transfer. Between Artesprix's plethora of Iron-on-Ink products and the endless amount of compatible sublimation blanks, the possibilities are endless! Iron-on inks are so fabulous because you don’t have to invest in an expensive printer to create some very cool projects right in your home! Plus, if you’re more “hands on” or “hands inky” like me, I feel you can get so much more creative with the Sublimation Inks, Paints and Markers that Artesprix offers.

Supplies:
Sublimation Blank of the Month Pillow Case
Iron-on-Ink Stamp Pads
Sublimation Markers
Protective Paper
Heat Tape
Sizzix White Christmas Stamps
Acrylic Stamp Block
Pencil
Heat Source

Step-by-Step Tutorial:

Step 1: Start by designing your phrase on your cutting machine software (or you can draw it by hand). Mirror your letters so it will transfer correctly.

Pro Tip: Allow your cutting machine to draw the design with a regular ball point pen or Cricut pen. Then add the color by hand, this will extend the lifetime of your Sublimation Markers.

Step 2: Trace your design on a sheet of copy paper using the Iron-on-Ink Sublimation Markers.

Step 3: On a new piece of copy paper, stamp a bunch of snow flakes from the Sizzix White Christmas Stamp Set on pieces of copy paper in multiple Sublimation Ink Pad colors.

Step 4: Cut apart your snowflakes to make placing them easier, be sure to leave a 1" margin between your stamped design and the edge of the paper.

Step 5: Arrange your phrase in the center of the pillow case and add some snowflakes randomly around it, secure with Heat Tape.

Step 6: Use a layer of Protective Paper in between the layers of your pillow case, as well as placing one on top and bottom of your secured project. Make sure your design is closest to the heat source and press for 45 seconds at 400℉.

Step 7: Once pressed you are ready to do a "peek test", carefully lift one corner of the tape to check that your transfer is complete. If it is, you can reveal your whole design!

Step 8: Allow blank to cool. Add more snowflakes along the border of your pillow case and repeat the steps above to press.

Look at those colors! I love how quickly I can create a fun, festive pillow case to add a little holiday humor to my bedroom décor. This would be a great project to have kids create their own special pillow for their room too! Don't forget these Pillow Cases are only available for a limited time so don't wait to grab yours!

I hope you'll follow the Artesprix Facebook page for even more inspiration.

Until next time,

Mandie Wade
