Artesprix Design Team
Magnets, Stamp Pads

Hello and welcome! My name is Maria, and I am the Guest Designer for Artesprix. this month. I am excited to share my projects with you! For my project today, I plan to create cute magnets for my fridge, using the Artesprix Ink Pads, AAII Stamp Sets, and Artesprix Sublimation Magnets. These Magnets come in a set of four so they are perfect for a project that utilizes designs from a set to display multiple works of sublimation art.

What is Sublimation Iron-on-Ink?

Sublimation is a chemistry term that refers to a substance changing from solid to gas without becoming liquid. In custom goods design, sublimation allows for a lasting design transfer onto polyester surfaces, resulting in vibrant and durable products. You don’t need an expensive sublimation printer to try it; Artesprix makes sublimation accessible to everyone!

Supplies:

Step-by-Step Tutorial:

Step 1: Trace the magnet onto copy paper. Repeat if creating more than one magnet.

Step 2: Ink the stamp design with Black Sublimation Ink Pad and stamp into the traced template.

Pro Tip: Use the MISTI Stamping Tool to stamp the design multiple times to stamp it multiple times to create the best impression onto the copy paper.

Step 3: Use different colors of the Sublimation Ink Pads and press it onto an acrylic block, or non-porous surface. Wet a watercolor brush with some water and dab this onto the acrylic block and start coloring the images.

Step 4: Repeat the steps above to finish coloring the other designs.

Step 5: After completing the design, place your Artesprix Magnets face down on each design and secure it with Heat Tape.

Step 6: Make your "sublimation sandwich"! Cut two pieces of Protective Paper. Place one on the pressing pad, and the other on top of the secured project to protect the heat source from unwanted ink.

Step 7: Use a heat source that reaches 400°F to transfer for 75 seconds.

Pro Tip #2: If you are using a handheld Heat Source, ensure not to shift while transferring, as this can cause "ghosting", an issue where the design shifts slightly and creates a blurry, double image.

Step 8: Use Heat Protective Gloves to remove your design from the Heat Source.

Step 9: Take a "peek" by carefully lifting up a piece of copy paper, without removing any tape, to see if the transfer is bright and vivid. By not moving any tape out of place, this gives the ability to press again if needed.

Step 10: If the "peek test" was successful, wait a few minutes for your design to cool before removing the tape to reveal your transfer.
