Interactive Sublimation Geocaching Zip Case with Artesprix
Artesprix Design TeamCanvas Zip Case, Cricut, Markers, Stamp Pads
Hello! I am Paula from Paula’s Studio. I am primarily a paper crafter who loves to make greeting cards but I also love using paper and my creativity to make other things. My excitement for Artesprix products comes from the ability to use the inks in different forms and techniques to expand on the options of how I can use my skills and artwork. I used Artesprix markers and ink pads to decorate a Canvas Zip Case to use for travel and/or geocaching supplies. The map of the United States can have states colored in as you visit them! To learn more about the fun that geocaching is, visit: www.geocaching.com. They can also be used to mark the states you visit if you aren’t into geocaching.

What are Artesprix Sublimation Arts & Crafts Supplies?
Sublimation is the process of taking a solid ink and applying heat and pressure to allow it to vaporize skipping the liquid state. This causes the ink to permanently adhere to the surface if it is primarily a form of polyester or poly-coating as the heat causes the surface to accept the gases leaving behind vibrant and permanent colors. Commercially, printers are used to print the designs. Artesprix provides products such as markers, ink pads, and paints to allow us to create projects at home without committing to a printer and lets us dip into our creative side too.

Supplies:
Sublimation Markers – Basic Fine
Sublimation Stamps – Hand Lettered Basics
Stencils
Pencil
Electronic Cutter such as Cricut or Silhouette with a pen holder
White Cardstock
United States SVG
Copy/printer papers
Scissors
Artesprix Protective Paper Roll
Heat Source
Heat press pillow
Step-by-Step Tutorial:
Step 1: Trace the canvas zip case on the sheet of paper twice or on two pages to create two templates for both sides. Set aside Zip Case.

Step 2: Use your electronic cutting machine to sketch the United States in a space the size of the zip case on the copy paper using the pen holder and a fine Artesprix marker in your choice of color.

Pro Tip: It is best to use the Basic Sublimation Fine Tip Markers when drawing with electronic cutting machines.
Step 3: Cut the same SVG file out using card stock.

Step 4: Color each state in your choice of colors with an Artesprix marker on the drawn U.S. that you have already completed, if any.

Step 5: Before removing cardstock from cutting mat, label each state as to what state it is so you don’t have to guess later. Remove them from the mat and color the back side of each state with an Artesprix sublimation marker in the colors of your choice. Store these in a plastic zip bag to keep safe to press once you complete that state. There is no time limit for Artespix designs/transfers. This way, at a later time, tape the state in place with heat protective tape on the map design/personalized Zip Case and press at 400 ℉ for 45 seconds.

Step 5: Decorate the other template on copy paper for the opposite side of the zip case as you wish. I chose to use the Sublimation Stamp Hand Lettered Basic set as well as some other stamp designs with various color Sublimation Ink Pads.
Step 6: Securely tape the canvas zip case face down using heat protective tape.

Step 7: Create a sublimation sandwich by placing your secured project between two pieces of protective paper. Also include a pressing pillow beneath the sandwich to get a better press due to having a zipper. If no pressing pillow is available, let the zipper side hang off side of bottom platen on heat press.

Step 8: Press with paper face down on the zip case using medium pressure at 400 ℉ for 45 seconds.

Step 9: Be cautious this step is HOT, please use heat protection gloves. After 45 seconds, lift a corner of the paper and peek to ensure that the ink has transferred and is vibrant on the zip case. If not, heat a little longer and do another test. If so, remove from heat source and let cool.

Step 10: Once cool, remove the paper.
Step 11: Repeat steps 7-11 for the opposite side of the zip case.

This is the perfect zip case to hold the basic supplies needed for geocaching! I like to find one or two on vacation in other states. It’s so fun now that I can fill in the states as I find more using Artesprix markers! I hope you’ll fall in love with Artesprix products as I have!
