Custom Coffee Lover Sublimation Button with Artesprix
Hello and welcome! My name is Linh from LVHandcrafted and today I’m using my cardmaking skills to do some sublimation! The beauty of Artesprix is you can use supplies you have around your house to create your design. You don’t need a special printer. As a cardmaker, I have loads of stamps, dies, stencils, etc. It’s so wonderful to be able to use all of those supplies in a whole new way - giving them new life and more value for money.

What are Sublimation Arts & Crafts Supplies?
The word "sublimation" is a chemistry term that describes the process of a substance (like Iron-on-Ink) going from a solid state to a gaseous phase and skipping over the liquid phase. In the world of designing custom goods, sublimation offers a permanent way to transfer a design to a polyester surface. The result is a vibrant, custom designed product that is long-lasting and durable. If you’ve always wanted to try sublimation but thought you needed an expensive, specialty printer, you’re in luck because Artesprix makes it possible to sublimate without a sublimation printer!
Supplies:
Heat Source
Copy Paper
Pencil
Scissors
Step-by-Step Tutorial:
Step 1: Start by tracing the button on plain copy paper with a pencil.
Step 2: Find your favorite Coffee stamp themed set and stamp out your design.
Step 3: I blended a bit of brown around the bottom of the Button Blank using a blending brush.
Pro Tip: You can use many of your papercrafting & cardmaking techniques with Artesprix Iron-on-Ink, you just want to ensure you have a separate set of brushes dedicated to your sublimation ink pads.
Step 4: Now we are going to paint with your sublimation ink pads. Smoosh some ink onto a non-porous surface (e.g. an acrylic block), then spritz it with some plain water and apply to paper using a brush.
Step 5: Allow your design to dry completely and trim your paper if needed so there is half an inch or so outside your template.
Step 6: Tape your design to your Button Blank using Heat Tape.
Step 7: Line your Protective Project Mat with Protective Paper . Add your secured project with the paper on top and "Sandwich" Button Blank by adding another piece of Protective Paper on top.
Step 8: Press with your heat source at 400℉ for 75 seconds.
Step 9: Gently lift a small corner of your design to do a little “peek test” to see if your design has transferred. If you see nice, vibrant color, you are good to go! If it doesn’t look like your design is complete or it’s not vibrant, heat again and try adding a bit more pressure.
Step 10: If Step 9 was successful, remove your design completely. Be careful as items will be hot.
Step 11: Don’t forget the pin! Peel off the adhesive liner on the included pin and adhere it to the back of the button.
Pro Tip #2: I used a ruler lined up with my stamped image on the front. This way I know the pin is parallel with the design on the front.
