Fun & Foamy Sublimation Project with Easy Everyday Trivet
Artesprix Design TeamBlank Of The Month, Stamp Ink Refills, trivet
Hello and welcome! My name is Linh from LVHandcrafted and I’m going to try a technique I’ve never done before, marbling with shaving cream! This is really fun but you need to be prepared to get messy, which is not something I usually associate with Artesprix Sublimation Arts & Crafts Supplies. But it is fun to think about all the different techniques that you can use with regular paints and inks, and recreate them with Iron-on-Ink to create an everlasting project.

What are Sublimation Arts & Crafts Supplies?
The word "sublimation" is a chemistry term that describes the process of a substance (like Iron-on-Ink) going from a solid state to a gaseous phase and skipping over the liquid phase. In the world of designing custom goods, sublimation offers a permanent way to transfer a design to a polyester surface. The result is a vibrant, custom designed product that is long-lasting and durable. If you’ve always wanted to try sublimation but thought you needed an expensive, specialty printer, you’re in luck because Artesprix makes it possible to sublimate without a sublimation printer!

Supplies:
Paper Towels (lots of them!)
Copy Paper/Cardstock
Step-by-Step Tutorial:
Step 1: Line your table with protective paper. Spray shaving foam so you have about ½” thick layer of foam that will roughly be large enough to cover your blank.

Step 2: Dot your foam with drops of Sublimation Ink. You can use multiple colors but make sure to choose colors that won’t mix and turn into brown. I chose Blue, Pink and Purple.

Step 3: Create swirls in your design with a tooth pick, popsicle stick, etc. Try not to over mix. You don’t want all the colors to blend. You just want to create interesting streaks.

Step 4: Lay your paper on top of the foam and press gently making sure the paper makes good contact with the foam.

Step 5: Scrape the foam off of your paper in one quick motion.
Step 6: Repeat steps 2-5 and continue to reuse your foam if you want to make more prints.

Step 7: Secure your design to the blank using heat tape.

Step 8: Place protective paper on top of the blank & design to create a sandwich.
Step 9: Press at 400F for 105 seconds.
Step 10: Without moving any tape out of place, do a "peek test" by taking a sneak peek by lifting a corner of your design. If you feel like you got a good color transfer, let your blank continue cool. If your transfer looks light, try re-pressing again perhaps with more pressure.

Step 11: Enjoy your faux-marbled trivet!
