Springtime Mandala Trivet with Sublimation Coloring Book & Iron-on-Ink
Artesprix Design TeamColoring Book, Stamp Pads, trivet
Hello! I am Paula from Paula’s Studio. I am primarily a paper crafter who loves to make greeting cards but I also love using paper and my creativity to make other things. My excitement for Artesprix products comes from the ability to use the inks in different forms and techniques to expand on the options of how I can use my skills and artwork. I used Artesprix Inks with the brand new Artesprix Coloring Books on the Blank of the Month Trivet.

What are Artesprix Sublimation Arts & Crafts Supplies?
Sublimation is the process of taking a solid ink and applying heat and pressure to allow it to vaporize skipping the liquid state. This causes the ink to permanently adhere to the surface if it is primarily a form of polyester or poly-coating as the heat causes the surface to accept the gases leaving behind vibrant and permanent colors. Commercially, printers are used to print the designs. Artesprix provides products such as markers, ink pads, and paints to allow us to create projects at home without committing to a printer and lets us dip into our creative side too.

Supplies:
Sublimation Coloring Book: Mandala Large
Pencil
Copy/printer paper
Paint mixing tray/palette or a paper plate
Paint brush
Spray bottle with water
Cup with water
Artesprix Protective Paper Roll
Heat Source
Step-by-Step Tutorial:
Step 1: Choose a page from the coloring book to use on the trivet. Trace the trivet on the sheet of paper positioning the design as you choose.

Step 2: Put a drop of ink on your paint tray. Add a drop or two of water and mix.
Step 3: Paint the mandala in your choice of colors. My design has pink, yellow, green, blue ink.

Step 4: For the background outside of the mandala, alternate spritzing the paper with water and tapping an inked paint brush in the water to let the water run.

Step 5: The paper will be soaked. Gently move to a paper towel and set aside to dry completely.
Step 6: Once dry, securely tape the trivet face down using heat protective tape.

Step 7: Create a sublimation sandwich by placing your secured project between two pieces of protective paper.

Step 8: Press with paper face down on the trivet using heavy pressure at 400 ℉ for 105 seconds.
Step 9: Be cautious this step is HOT, please use heat protection gloves. After 105 seconds, lift a corner of the paper and peek to ensure that the ink has transferred and is vibrant on the trivet. If not, heat a little longer and do another test. If so, remove from heat source and let cool.

Step 10: Once cool, remove the paper.
Enjoy your masterpiece!
The new coloring books are so fun and there are so many things you can decorate with your artwork. The sublimation inks are versatile as you can use them straight out of the bottle for deep rich colors or thin them out for a watercolor look.
