What is Artesprix Iron-on-Ink?
Artesprix Sublimation Markers, Ink, and Paint are specially formulated to allow you to use basic copy paper to: color, stamp, stencil, and monoprint anything you wish and turn it into a heat-transferable design. These designs are then applied to a polyester or polyester coated substrate with heat and pressure. You can use a heat press or a home iron! These designs, through this process of sublimation, will become permanent on your substrates.
Supplies:
Artesprix Maple Ornament
Black Sublimation Stamp Pad
Basic Fine Sublimation Markers: Yellow, Orange, Green, Brown, and Black
Bold Chisel Sublimation Markers: Ruby and Cinnamon
Acrylic Stamp Block
Mirror Stamp Plate
Protective Paper
Heat Tape
Clearly Besotted: Ring Around Fall Stamp Set (or other floral stamps)
Coordinating Ribbon (optional)
MISTI Stamping Tool
Step-by-Step Tutorial:
Step 1: Trace the Maple Ornament onto copy paper with a pencil. The pencil marks will not transfer during sublimation.
Step 2: Place your focal stamp into the MISTI, and apply the Black Sublimation Stamp Ink. Stamp onto your paper.
Step 3: Place your sentiment onto the Acrylic Block and ink with the Black Sublimation Stamp Ink.
Step 4: Stamp the sentiment onto the Mirror Stamp Plate to get the reverse image of the sentiment, then press the Mirror Stamp Plate onto your design. When you sublimate, the sentiment will be facing the correct direction.
Step 5: If any areas of the sentiment needs to be touched up, you can use the Black Fine Tip Sublimation Marker to do this.
Step 6: Color your design using a variety of Sublimation Marker colors. Here, I used the Fine Tip Yellow and Orange. Some of my other sunflowers used the Fine Tip Yellow and the Chisel Tip Ruby.
Pro Tip: Always start with your yellows if you plan on using them. This prevents you from not only contaminating your marker with another color, but it also keeps your colored design from getting "dirty" yellows.
Step 7: Continue to color your design. Here, I used Cinnamon and Brown for my flower centers. I'll use Green for the leaves and stems next.
Here is my completed design. Since our Blank is Maple colored, I don't want to add additional colors to the background so that beautiful Maple will really show.
Step 8: Adhere the Maple Ornament to the design using Heat Tape. You can actually sublimate on both sides of this Blank!
Step 9: Let’s make our "Sublimation Sandwich"! Add a layer of siliconized paper to the top and bottom of your Blank. Your sandwich will be: Protective Paper-Completed Design-Blank-Protective Paper. The Protective Paper prevents any images accidentally transferring to either side of your Heat Press or to your home iron.
Step 10: Sublimate the Maple Ornament for 60 seconds at 400°F degrees.
Step 11: It’s time for the "Peek Test"! Carefully lift a corner of the paper away from the Maple Ornament. Remember, this is VERY hot, so be careful! Make sure your design sublimated well before removing the paper completely. Mine looks great, so we can reveal the finished design.
Step 12: Tie ribbon onto the Maple Ornament. The ornaments come with a lovely satin red, but I grabbed some orange ribbon from my stash.
I love how this came out! Wouldn't it make a great Hostess gift? You can also make these for guests and used as part of a festive place setting.
This Maple Ornament is perfect if you need a fast, last-minute gift. The soft, natural maple color of it is so lovely and love using any of the Blanks that are this color.
