Sublimation Coloring Book Wine Stopper with Iron-on-Ink

Artesprix Design Team
Coloring Book, Markers, Wine Stopper

Hello and welcome!  My name is Linh from LVHandcrafted and I’m stoked about the new Sublimation Coloring Books from Artesprix! Not only are there some gorgeous florals, basic letters, but you’ll find some custom designs from some of your favorite sublimation designers! If you haven't tried sublimation with Artesprix products yet, the Sublimation Coloring Book is a great place to start. The designs are printed with a sublimation printer so all you have to do is color in the design!

What are Sublimation Arts & Crafts Supplies?

The word "sublimation" is a chemistry term that describes the process of a substance (like Iron-on-Ink) going from a solid state to a gaseous phase and skipping over the liquid phase. In the world of designing custom goods, sublimation offers a permanent way to transfer a design to a polyester surface. The result is a vibrant, custom designed product that is long-lasting and durable. If you’ve always wanted to try sublimation but thought you needed an expensive, specialty printer, you’re in luck because Artesprix makes it possible to sublimate without a sublimation printer!

Supplies:

Wine Stopper Blank

Coloring Book: Floral

Sublimation Markers

Sublimation Acrylic Paint

Protective Paper

Heat Tape

Heat Tape Dispenser

Protective Project Mat

Heat Resistant Gloves

Heat Source

Copy Paper/Cardstock

Step-by-Step Tutorial:

Step 1: Pick your favorite image from the new Sublimation Coloring Book.

Step 2: Place the wine stopper plate over the design you’d like to use and trace it.

Step 3: Cut around the design.

Step 4: Color in the image with the Sublimation Markers .

Step 5: Mix some acrylic paint to fill the background of the image. I used blue and white for a sky look. Coloring in the background of the image. I like to use a small stencil brush and pounce the paint on for a stippled look.

Step 6: This blank has a plastic protective layer. Don’t forget to peel it off!

Step 7: Secure your design to the blank using heat tape.

Step 8: Place your blank inside your "protective paper taco". Make sure your design is visible and closest to the top layer of protective paper.

Step 9: Press at 385°F for 45 seconds.

Step 10: Without moving any tape out of place, take a sneaky peek by lifting a corner of your design. If you feel like you got a good color transfer, let your blank continue to cool. If your transfer looks light, try re-pressing again perhaps with more pressure.

Step 11: Remove the paper from the design. It’s amazing to see how much of the acrylic paint transfers! You can see the paper has barely any color where the blank was.
