Sublimation Watercolor Wine Bag with Artesprix Iron-on-Ink & Mask
Hello and welcome! My name is Linh from LVHandcrafted and Design Team Term 10 is off to a solid start! If lettering feels tricky to you, try using the Artesprix Heat Resistant Transfer Mask. You don’t need to mirror the design when you cut it out. You just need to make sure you are cutting on the side that has the vinyl (and not the carrier sheet). When you make your design you can create an all-over design that doesn’t have any lettering at all! This is a great way to add a sentiment to your project.

What are Sublimation Arts & Crafts Supplies?
The word "sublimation" is a chemistry term that describes the process of a substance (like Iron-on-Ink) going from a solid state to a gaseous phase and skipping over the liquid phase. In the world of designing custom goods, sublimation offers a permanent way to transfer a design to a polyester surface. The result is a vibrant, custom designed product that is long-lasting and durable. If you’ve always wanted to try sublimation but thought you needed an expensive, specialty printer, you’re in luck because Artesprix makes it possible to sublimate without a sublimation printer!
Supplies:
Wine Bag
Artesprix Iron-on-Ink - Green & Yellow
Artesprix Paint - Lightening, Purple
Paintbrush, Sponge Dauber
Heat Resistant Transfer Mask
Heat Source
Copy Paper/Cardstock
Step-by-Step Tutorial:
Step 1: Let’s start by tracing around the blank onto some plain paper. Be sure to use a pencil so it doesn’t sublimate onto your project.
Step 2: Smoosh out some green and yellow ink onto a non-porous surface. Spritz with water and using a brush, apply ink to your paper. Reserve some white space for where your grapes will be.
Step 3: Mix a light purple blend of Artesprix Acrylic paint. Using your sponge dauber “dot” the white space you reserved in the shape of a cluster of grapes (leave some white space). Add some purple to darken your paint and “dot” on another layer of grapes to fill out the cluster.
Step 4: (Optional) For added shadowing and detail, mix a little black with purple and draw a shadow line under some of the grapes. Dot those grapes to blend the shadow out a bit.
Step 5: Create a design in your electronic cutting machine and cut it into the Heat Resistant Transfer Mask Sheet using the vinyl setting. You do not need to mirror the design since we will be applying them to the blank! Weed the letters out and place them on the wine bag as desired.
Step 6: Secure your design to the blank using Heat Tape.
Step 7: Place a sheet of protective paper under your blank, on top of your blank, and inside the wine bag.
Step 8: Press your design into your blank at 400°F for 45 seconds. Make sure the design is on top of the blank and closest to the heat press.
Step 9: Take a peek to make sure the sublimation ink has transferred. If you find it is not vibrant, you can re-press if no tape was moved out of place.
Step 8: Let your design cool and then weed away the mask from your blank.
