Try Personalizing Your Own Wine Bag with Sublimation Paint

Artesprix LLC
Paints, Wine Bag

Hello! I am Paula from Paula’s Studio. I am primarily a paper crafter who loves to make greeting cards but I also love using paper and my creativity to make other things. My excitement for Artesprix products comes from the ability to use the inks in different forms and techniques to expand on the options of how I can use my skills and artwork. I decorated an Artesprix Wine Bag using Artesprix Sublimation Paint.

What are Artesprix Sublimation Arts & Crafts Supplies?

Sublimation is the process of taking a solid ink and applying heat and pressure to allow it to vaporize skipping the liquid state. This causes the ink to permanently adhere to the surface if it is primarily a form of polyester or poly-coating as the heat causes the surface to accept the gases leaving behind vibrant and permanent colors. Commercially, printers are used to print the designs. Artesprix provides products such as markers, ink pads, and paints to allow us to create projects at home without committing to a printer and lets us dip into our creative side too.

Supplies:

Wine Bag

Artesprix Sublimation Acrylic Paint

Acrylic Lightening Medium for Sublimation Paint

Sublimation Stamps – Block Alphabet

Sublimation Ink Pad (optional)

Stamping Block

Pencil

Copy/printer papers

Artesprix Heat Tape

Artesprix Protective Paper Roll

Heat Source

Pressing Pillow

Heat Protection Gloves

Paint Brush

Water

Paint Palette Tray

Step-by-Step Tutorial:

Step 1: Trace the wine bag onto the copy paper. Mark a spot where the fabric bunches on the wine bag when bag is closed.

Step 2: Free-hand a bunch of grapes and leaves using a pencil, as pencil will not transfer onto wine bag. If not a fan of free-handed drawing a round stencil and a maple leaf stencil may help achieve a similar look.

Step 3: Add paint and lightening medium to the palette tray in the colors you choose. Paint the penciled design. The lightening medium allows you to lighten a color to add shading effects.

Step 4: Add Artesprix's Sublimation Stamp Block letters to an acrylic stamp block to create "ENJOY". Add paint to the letters.

Pro Tip: Only very little paint is needed for the Block Letter Stamps. Alternatively, you can use an Artesprix stamping ink for a crisper finish. Stamp the word onto the design.

Step 5: Add some finishing touches, get creative with it!

Pro Tip #2: The paints are translucent, meaning you cannot layer lighter colors on top of darker ones because the darker color with push through and over power the other colors during the transfer process. In the creative process I forgot that the White Acrylic Lightning Medium is only intended to be combined with other colors to lighten the shade. Just like regular sublimation, there is no such thing as white ink, the same rules apply with Artesprix Sublimation Paint.

Step 6: Insert a pressing pillow to the bag or place underneath to avoid press lines. Tape the finished design face down onto the wine bag using heat tape.

Step 7: Create a "sublimation sandwich" by placing your secured project between two pieces of protective paper.

Step 8: Press with heavy pressure at 400 ℉ for 45 seconds.

Step 9: Be cautious this step is HOT, please use heat protection gloves. After 45 seconds, lift a corner of the paper and peek to ensure that the ink is transferred and vibrant on the wine bag. If not, heat again. Because we did not move any tape out of place during this step, that leaves us the option to re-press if needed.

Step 10: Once you have confirmed your transfer is vibrant, remove the paper to reveal your permanent design.

Step 11: Insert a bottled beverage!

This is a wonderful reusable gift bag for your next wine gift. Artesprix paint is so vibrant and beautiful. I hope you’ll fall in love with them as I have!
