Learn how to design a custom DIY Decorative Metal Panel for a craft room
Create a Metal Panel Using Sublimation Iron-on-Ink and Silhouette!
Hello everyone! Nicole from Artesprix Design Team. I decided to do something different! It involved me having to dust off my Silhouette Portrait. I can’t remember the last time I used it, but I wanted to create a Decorative Metal Panel for my craft room and I knew I had some cool digital cut files that would work with the Sublimation Markers. And I was right…I had just the right digital cut file to create my project. I think I spent more time looking for the pencil holder for the Portrait than I spent creating it. Like I said, I haven’t used it in awhile.
Step 1.
To begin, I used the Silhouette Portrait to trace two digital cut files onto plain copy paper.
Once I was finished tracing the image using my electronic cutting machine, I used the Pastel Sublimation Markers and Gnomie Botanical Sublimation Markers to color in the images and the title. Remember, you do not need to erase the pencil marks once you are finished coloring in the images because the pencil will not show through the blank once it comes out of the heat press.
Step 3:
Next, I used heat tape to tape the image face down on the Decorative Metal Panel. Make sure the Metal Panel is white side up, and the image is taped down with the colors faced down.
Step 4:
Create your Artesprix Sublimation Sandwich. One piece of Protective Paper goes at the top and bottom of the Deorative Metal Panel.
Step 5:
Set heat press for 90 seconds at 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Place your blank in the Artesprix Sublimation Sandwich in the Heat Press. Be sure that your image is facing upwards towards the heat.
Step 6:
Allow the Metal Panel to sit for five minutes to cool down. Remove the Iron-on-Ink from the panel and admire your beautiful Artesprix Decorative Metal Panel! I embellished my Decorative Metal Panel with some embellishments from my stash!
Step 7:
Don’t forget to add the stand to your panel. Simply remove the protective plastic film from the easel and apply as desired. I love how you can make this panel a horizontal or vertical design depending on your personal preference.
