Good Morning to my creative friends!

I’m so excited to share this Blank of the Month Sequin Pillow Project for April! Who loves sparkly, pretty things?! If you do, you’re in for a real treat. This month’s blank is a Sequin Pillow Case.

Do yourself a favor now...go on Amazon and purchase 2 or 3 16x16 pillows to stuff these beauties because once you try it, you’ll want to make a few more!Artesprix Sequin Pillow Blank of the Month

What are Artesprix Sublimation Markers?

Artesprix Sublimation Markers have the capability to transfer your drawings from a plain copy paper to any Polyester blank  with a unique process called, “Sublimation.” Once the blank goes through the heat press, your image is permanent! It will not wash off. So cool, right!?

Materials:

Step by Step Tutorial:

Step 1. To begin, I taped two 8x11 sheets of copy paper side by side using heat tape to cater to the size of the pillow. Then, I used the Pastel Sublimation Markers to trace the images from the stencils onto the paper. Stencils are great because it’s so easy to create a mirror image! Simply flip the stencil over for the text in order to mirror.

Tip: You may want to tape down the ends of the stencil using washi tape to prevent the stencil from slipping while you are coloring.Stencil for Blank of the Month project

Step 2. Color your design using Artesprix Sublimation Markers directly onto the prepared regular copy paper.Colored Iron-on-Ink Design

Step 3. Using heat tape, I taped down the Sequin Pillow Case with the design (face-down) to the sequin side of the Sequin Pillow Case. Be sure to secure all sides of the image using heat tape to avoid slipping because if it’s not secured, you may get a ghost image.

Tip: Make sure your sequins are all lined up correctly so no silver appears! That way the image transfers properly! You can easily smooth them down using your nail.Iron-on-Ink colored design for Artesprix projectArtesprix Heat Taper to prepare for sublimation

Step 4. Now, you are ready to create a “Sublimation Sandwich,” from bottom to top:

Top: Artesprix Protective Paper

Bottom: Artesprix Protective Paper

Step 5. Set your Artesprix heat press timer for 60 seconds at 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 6. Place “Sublimation Sandwich” in the heat press. And close Artesprix Heat Press to start sublimation process. *Remeber your design should be face down to your blank on the top of your Sublimation Sandwich.*

Tip: Make sure the knob is tight. You want as much pressure possible so that the heat press is hot enough to really make the images and colors pop.Artesprix Heat Press

Step 7. After pressing, allow the item to cool before handling. You can also use the Artesprix Protective Project Mat as a cool down station after your timer has gone off.

Step 8. The Big Reveal! Remove the copy paper from your blank and reveal the design that is now infused with the Polyester Sequins on your pillow!Iron-on-Ink Big RevealThe Big Reveal
