Create Paris Princess Party Coasters with Sublimation Ink & Paper Crafting Supplies

Artesprix Design Team
Coasters, Stamp Pads

Hello! I am Design Team Member Paula from Paula’s Studio. I am primarily a paper crafter who loves to make greeting cards but I also love using paper and my creativity to make other things. My excitement for Artesprix products comes from the ability to use the inks in different forms and techniques to expand on the options of how I can use my skills and artwork. I decorated 4 polished coasters to go with the Paris themed paper crafting supplies in my crafting studio. These would be perfect for a princess themed tea party!

What are Artesprix Sublimation Arts & Crafts Supplies?

Sublimation is the process of taking a solid ink and applying heat and pressure to allow it to vaporize skipping the liquid state. This causes the ink to permanently adhere to the surface if it is primarily a form of polyester or poly-coating as the heat causes the surface to accept the gases leaving behind vibrant and permanent colors. Commercially, printers are used to print the designs. Artesprix provides products such as markers, ink pads, and paints to allow us to create projects at home without committing to a printer and lets us dip into our creative side too.

Step 2: Secure desired stencils in place over template using low tack tape. Then brush the ink on from a Sublimation Ink Pad and use cotton swabs for tiny spaces. If using stencils with text, be sure flip the stencil so the words will read correctly when transferred to the coaster.

Step 3: Alternatively, stamps are also a good option to add design elements using the Sublimation Ink Pads. If the stamps have text, incorporate a Mirror Stamping Plate.

Step 4: To add a light coloring to background, use a sublimation marker on a non-porous surface and mix with a little water. Apply the color to the template with a paint brush.

Step 5: Allow your designs to dry completely.

Step 6: Cut apart the circles and securely tape each to a coaster using Heat Tape.

Step 7: Create a "sublimation sandwich" by placing your secured project between two pieces of protective paper.

Step 8: If using a Heat Press, press multiple coasters simultaneously. If using a handheld press, transfer each coaster individually. Press using medium pressure at 400 ℉ for 60 seconds.

Step 9: Be cautious as everything is hot, please use heat gloves. After 60 seconds, lift a corner of the paper and peek to ensure that the ink has transferred and is vibrant on the coaster. If not, check the time, temperature, pressure, and how the project was positioned and re-press. If the "peek test" was successful, allow project to cool.

Step 10: Once safe to the touch, remove the transfer to reveal your transfer.
