How to Create Customizable Baby Shower Gift Ribbon

Artesprix Design Team

Hi Everyone! My name is Sarah Goulet from A Paper Moment. For this project I will be sharing with you how to create a customized baby themed ribbon. I like using ribbon when wrapping presents for a baby shower. Sometimes I want to match the theme of the party or to curate a gift package that’s gender neutral. That’s where the awesome Iron-on-Ink products shine so that I can create a custom themed ribbon for my gift wrapping needs! Keep reading to see how you can also design your own one-of-a-kind ribbon.

What are Artesprix Sublimation Arts & Crafts Supplies?

Artesprix has produced specially formulated products that permanently transfer a design you create onto a polyester or polyester coated substrate (the blank) through a mechanism called sublimation. Sublimation is a chemical process in which the combination of heat and pressure allows the solid form of the design to turn into a gas and permanently integrate into your project so it won’t peel or fade. What’s great is that along with the Artesprix sublimation arts and craft supplies such as Sublimation Markers, Paints, and Inks, you can easily utilize items you may already have such as stamps, stencils, and electronic cutting machines for quick and easy projects.

Supplies:

Satin Ribbon

Sublimation Markers - Basic Chisel

Sublimation Markers - Basic Fine

Sublimation Markers - Bold Chisel

Sublimation Markers - Pastel Chisel

Sublimation Ink Pads - Black and Yellow

Heat Tape

Protective Paper Roll

Protective Project Mat

Multi-Purpose Cleaner

Acrylic Stamp Block

Copy/Printer paper

Baby Themed Stamps (I used Your Next Stamp “Baby Blessings”)

Brutus Monroe stencil - Fairy Flight Path

Ink blending tool

Paper trimmer or scissors

Heat Source

Heat Protective Gloves

Step-by-Step Tutorial:

Step 1: On the short side, trim 2 pieces of copy paper to 2.75 x 11” strips for a total of 6 strips.

Step 2: Place your desired stamps onto an acrylic stamp block positioning as desired. Ink up the stamps using Black Sublimation Ink. Stamp the images onto the strips of paper. Your design should not be more than 3 inches wide.

Pro Tip: Use the Artesprix Multi-Purpose Cleaner to clean the Sublimation ink off your stamps. BONUS, it smells great!

Step 3: Color in the images with various Artesprix Sublimation Markers.

Step 4: Place the stencil over the strip of paper and ink blend Yellow Sublimation Ink randomly around the colored images.

Step 5: Cut down each individual paper strip and place finished design onto the Satin Ribbon. Secure in place using Heat Tape.

Step 6: Assemble your “sublimation sandwich.” Sandwich recipe is Protective Paper, Blank with secured design on top, Protective paper. This will protect your work surface and heat source.

Step 7: On a sturdy surface, place your “sandwich” onto the Project Mat with the design closest to the heat source. Press for 90 seconds at 400℉.

Step 8: Peel back a corner for a “peek test” to see if your design has fully transferred. If it has not, place the corner back in place and press again.

Pro Tip #2: Step 8 only works if you ensure not to remove any tape out of place, this gives you the option to transfer again if needed.

Step 9: Repeat the above steps with the remaining strips until you’ve reached your desired length of ribbon.

Isn’t the ribbon so sweet? You can use it to wrap a box or tie a bow onto a basket. Artesprix makes it so easy to create one-of-a-kind projects.
