Iron-on-Ink Halloween T-shirt with Artesprix Markers
Hello Artesprix fans! Maria from the Artesprix Deisgn Team back on the blog with you today to share with you another cute Halloween project. For this blog you will learn how to create an Iron-on-Ink Halloween T-shirt with Artesprix Markers. This was my first Artesprix T-shirt Project and it was so fun and easy! Let’s jump in!
What are Artesprix Sublimation Markers?
Artesprix Sublimation Markers have the capability to transfer your drawings from a plain copy paper to any Polyester Fabric or Polyester Coated Blank with a unique process called, "'Sublimation."
Materials:
- Artesprix T-shirt
- Black Artesprix Markers
- Primary Pack (Yellow)
- Printed Design from your computer
- Heat Tape
- Protective Paper
- Project Mat
- Lightbox
- Plain Copy Paper
- Heat Source - Artesprix Heat Press
Step by Step Tutorial:
Step 1. Print your design on plain copy paper. Using the Lightbox, trace your design on another plain copy paper with Artesprix Fine Point Sublimation Marker in Black. Use Artesprix Sublimation Original Yellow Marker to color the bee’s body.
Step 2. Flip the design and trace the words backwards on a new sheet of copy paper. Take the fine Black sublimation Marker from the Artesprix Black Pack and start tracing to design your Iron-on-Ink Halloween T-shirt.
Step 3. If using an Artesprix Heat Press, set the temperature to 370 deg. F (and timer to 35 seconds). If using a dry iron, set to linen or highest setting. If using a Home Iron, set to linen or highest setting and “no steam”. Designer tip: the holes in your home iron will allow the heat to pass through evenly.
Step 4. Secure your design (face down) to your Artesprix Blank T-shirt with Artesprix Heat Tape. Make sure you are using enough tape to secure the design, so it doesn’t shift. Designer tip: only use Artesprix heat tape on the outer edge of your design (not over it), as the heat tape heat resistant, if the tape covers your design, the iron-on-ink will be affected during transfer. Be sure that your Artesprix Heat Tape does not cover any ink from your design so you get a 100% design transfer.
Step 5. Place Artesprix Protective Paper in-between the T-shirt to prevent your design from transferring through to the other side of the garment.
Your “Sublimation Sandwich” should be”...
- Artesprix Protective Paper
- Artesprix Blank Poly T-Shirt with design secured (face down) on top, with Artesprix with Protective Tape to secure design to Artesprix Blank
- Artesprix Protective Paper
Step 6. When your Artesprix Heat Press temperature reaches 370 deg. F, you are ready to do the sublimation. Place your “sublimation sandwich” inside and heat press for 35 seconds. If using Home Iron/Dry Iron hold stationary while pressing firmly for approximately 3 minutes (do not leave heat source unattended). Designer tip: Make sure to adjust the pressure on your heat press. I didn’t do it the first time and my design didn’t turn out so vibrant.
Step 7. Once the Artesprix Heat Press timer beeps, take your design and place on your Artesprix Project Mat to cool for a few minutes.
Step 8. Gently remove the Protective Paper from the Poly T-shirt to reveal your completed Iron-on-Ink Halloween T-shirt design.
I lOVE how this Iron-on-Ink Halloween T-shirt turned out!
