Sublimation Dyed Ribbon for the Holidays!

Artesprix Design Team
Ribbon, Stamp Pads

Hello and welcome! I am Deisgn Team Member Linh from LVHandcrafted. The best color ribbon is WHITE and the Artesprix Sublimation Ribbon is the absolute best!  Not only can you make it any color you want but you can also make any design you want.  What I love best about customizing my own ribbon is I can make just enough for what I need and not have to worry about storing a lot of different ribbons. For my project today, I use a stencil to make a holiday ribbon!

What are Sublimation Arts & Crafts Supplies
The word "sublimation" is a chemistry term that describes the process of a substance (like Iron-on-Ink) going from a solid state to a gaseous phase and skipping over the liquid phase. In the world of designing custom goods, sublimation offers a permanent way to transfer a design to a polyester surface. The result is a vibrant, custom designed product that is long-lasting and durable. If you’ve always wanted to try sublimation but thought you needed an expensive, specialty printer, you’re in luck because Artesprix makes it possible to sublimate without a sublimation printer!

Supplies:
Ribbon Blank
Artesprix Iron-on-Ink - Red
Protective Paper
Heat Tape
Heat Tape Dispenser
Protective Project Mat
Heat Resistant Gloves
Heat Source
Copy Paper/Cardstock
Step-by-Step Tutorial:
Step 1: I’m using a stretch of 11 x 17 lightweight cardstock.  It holds a lot of ink well and it’s extra long so I can make a longer stretch of ribbon at a time. If you don’t have 11x17" you can always tape together multiple stretches of paper. I mark the width of the ribbon and then cut a strip of my cardstock.

Step 2: Next, I lined up my stencil and use magnets to hold it down while I stencil.

Step 3: I stencil my pattern onto the cardstock. It’s a nice repeat pattern so I can just move it on down the strip of cardstock and continue stenciling to the end.

Step 4: Tape your design to the blank using heat tape.

Step 5: Sandwich your blank & design in between protective paper so there’s paper above and below the blank. Trim off any excess.

Step 6: Press your design into your blank at 400°F for 90 seconds. Make sure the design is on top of the blank and closest to the heat press. If you’re using a small heat press like I am, just press one section at a time.
Pro Tip: You want to use a fresh sheet of protective paper when you press each section. Because there’s ink on the protective paper after each pressing, you don’t want that to transfer to the new section.

Step 7: Take a "peek" to make sure the sublimation ink has transferred. By looking to confirm if the transfer is bright before moving any tape out of place, it allows for re-pressing if needed.

Step 8: Once Step 7 was successful, remove the transfer, allow to cool, and shift the project as needed to press a different area of the ribbon.
