Design a Polyester Canvas Zip Case using Stamps and Iron-on-Ink

Create a one of a kind Project that lasts a lifetime!

Hi everyone! Leeann here from the Artesprix Guest Design Team. Today I will be showing you how to create a Polyester Cavas Zip Case Sublimation Project. I designed a sublimation Poly Zip Case using just a few products and a little bit of crafting time. I created a video towards the end of the blog to show you the full step by step tutorial for this project. Let’s get to it!

Completed Polyester Canvas Zip Case.

Materials:

Tools:

  • Copy Paper
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Iron, Heat Press or Easy Press
  • Craft Stamp Set

Step-By-Step Instructions:

Step 1.

Trace your Polyester Canvas Zip Case on a sheet of copy paper. This gives you an idea of the amount of workspace you have to work with, I love how pencil does not transfer to your blank.

Trace your Polyester Canvas Zip Case.

Step 2.

Using a stencil and pencil you can plan out your design. I chose to write, “Leeann Gets Carfty.” With all text and sublimation, you need to write it backward. The sublimation process flips your text right side too and will appear correct on the finished product. In the sublimation world, they call writing text backward, “mirroring.”

Step 3.

This is my favorite part! Using the Iron-on-Ink Stamp Pad dab your stamps of choice onto the ink pad. place them down onto the plain copy paper to create your design. You want to stay within the pencil lines as anything outside that will not transfer to the bag.

Use Iron-on-Ink Stamp pad to design Polyester Canvas Zip Case.

Step 4.

Using the Sublimation Markers in the colored desired areas. I decided to retrace the pencil lines. The colors will appear much more bright after the heat transfer process.

Use Iron-on-Ink markers to color Polyester Canvas Zip Case.

Step 5.

Next, place the canvas bag on your Iron-on-Ink design and secure with Artesprix Heat Tape. Use the Artesprix Heat Tape to make sure that Poly-Canvas Zip Case was nice and secure. Take two pieces of protective paper and place them on the top and the bottom to create a Sublimation Sandwich. Make sure your Sublimation Sandwich is facing upwards to meet your heat of choice.

Use Artesprix Heat Tape to secure on Polyester Canvas Zip Case.

Step 6.

Using your iron on the highest setting, press evenly throughout the entire Polyester Canvas Zip Case. Do not slide the iron, use the “tile effect, pick up, and place each time. You will want to apply maximum pressure to ensure the best Iron-on-Ink image transfer. Do this for about 3 minutes.

Use Home Iron for heat transfer process onto Polyester Canvas Zip Case.

Step 7.

Remove iron, turn it off and unplug. Take a few minutes and let your blank cool. Peel back the copy paper off your bank and reveal your completed Iron-on-Ink project!

Pro Tip: The first time I tried this project I used my iron which is on the older side and appeared to not have hit proper temperature. My first Polyester Canvas Zip Case did not transfer properly. After using a friend’s heat-press, I revealed my Iron-on-Ink image using the Heat Press I thought WOW, what a difference. The image transferred much better using a Heat Press. Artesprix recommends using a Home Iron with smaller blanks.

How fun was that? I really loved how this Iron-on-Ink Polyester Canvas Zip Case project tuned out in the end! If you loved this project be sure to go check out the Artepsrix Poly-Canvas Makeup Blog!
