Learn how to design an easy Vacation T-Shirt using Sublimation
If your Summer is looking a bit like ours, we are definitely homebound for most of it. This Sublimation Tie-Dye T-shirt project will make sure you know you can have fun while you are home. We made these awesome T-shirts with Artesprix Markers “Get Lost,” theme and we loved how they came out!
My daughter and I love to Tie-Dye, it makes everything bright and cheery!
The key to making this Sublimation Tie-Dye T-shirt Project is that all text needs to be done backward and I have a nifty trick to help with that process. In the sublimation world, we call this, “mirroring.” In order for the text to read correctly after the Heat Transfer process, you need to mirror all text designs on your copy paper.
What are Artesprix Sublimation Markers?
Artesprix Markers have the capability to transfer your drawings from any kind of plain paper to any polyester fabric or polyester coated items with our unique sublimation process by simply adding heat and pressure.
2. Copy Paper
3. Heat Tape
5. Artesprix Heat Press, dry iron or home iron
6. Project Mat
T-Shirt Step-by-Step Tutorial:
Tie-Dye your T-shirt using Tulip Tie-dye. Follow the instructions on the packaging and allow your T-shirt to dry before creating a sublimation.
Print out the “Get Lost” graphic below for Sublimation Tie-Dye T-shirt designs.
Turn the print upside down and with a new piece of computer paper on top use the Artesprix Sublimation to trace your design. Remember to mirror the text so that when the text is transferred onto the blank it will read correctly. Artesprix always recommends using a clean sheet for your Iron-on-Ink design due to the unknown of makers ink in their printers that may affect your blank during the transfer process.
Pro Tip: It helps if you have a window nearby or light box to trace evenly and accurately.
When creating the lettering, be sure to use bright colors and a black outline for a nice bright contrast to your t-shirt.
Preheat your Artesprix Heat Press to 370 degrees Fahrenheit.
Secure your design (face-down) to the front side of your Sublimation Tie-Dye T-shirts with Artesprix Heat Tape.
Pro Tip: Leave at least 1-2 inches of space of paper around the traced area so the tape does not cover your design. Just remember, anywhere you place the tape heat your design will not transfer through thoroughly. Artesprix Heat Tape can be used to fix any “oopsie,” on your design before transferred. Place a piece of tape over your, “oopsie,” and it will not transfer to your blank.
Create a “Sublimation Sandwich” Sandwich your Sublimation T-shirt between two pieces of protective paper and place on your project mat.
Set your Artesprix press timer for 45 seconds.
Take out of Heat Press and let Sublimation Tie-Dye T-shirt cool before handling.
Peel off the paper from your T-shirt to reveal your beautiful completed Sublimation T-Shirt design!
Pro Tip: Be sure to turn off your heat source.
