Cappy Christmas Maple Ornament with Iron-on-Ink
Seasons Greetings! I have a new Artesprix and Heffy Doodle collaboration project to hare with you today, and it is so cute! I love a good pun, so I incorporated one onto the December Blank of the Month which is a Maple Ornament. I was instantly inspired by one of the adorable Heffy Doodle stamp sets, and I knew it would be perfect for holiday season. This Blank is currently only available in the Artesprix Shop for the month of December so if these Maple Ornaments are something you might want to try, get them before it is too late!

What is Artesprix Iron-on-Ink?
Artesprix Sublimation Markers, Ink, and Paint are specially formulated to allow you to use basic copy paper to: color, stamp, stencil, and monoprint anything you wish and turn it into a heat-transferable design. These designs are then applied to a polyester or polyester coated substrate with heat and pressure. You can use a heat press or a home iron! These designs, through this process of sublimation, will become permanent on your substrates.
Supplies:
Maple Ornament 2ct
Basic Sublimation Markers 10ct
Basic Fine Sublimation Markers 10ct
Bold Chisel Sublimation Markers 10ct
Protective Paper
Multi-Purpose Cleaner
Heffy Doodle: Two by Two Safari Animals
Copy Paper
Heat Press, Handheld Craft Press, or Home Iron
Step-by-Step Tutorial:
Step 1: Trace the Maple Ornament in pencil onto a piece of copy paper.
Step 2: Stamp the two capybaras onto your traced template near the bottom with the Acrylic Stamp Block and Black Sublimation Ink. Then clean the stamps with the Multi-Purpose Cleaner.
Step 3: Flip the paper over and write the words “Cappy Christmas” in pencil.
Pro Tip: To ensure you are writing your text where intended, hold up to window to see where your text will be.
Step 4: Flip the paper back to the side that will be transferred and trace the “Cappy Christmas” with the Red Fine Tip Sublimation Marker.
Step 5: Color the capybaras with Cinnamon, and the rest as you wish. I also stamped the branch in the Two by Two Safari Animals stamp set with the Green Sublimation Stamp Pad. I re-curved the stamp so it would work on both sides of my design.
This is what my finished design looks like. I added a ground for the capybaras to stand on and kept the rest pretty simple.
Step 6: Use Heat Tape to attach the Maple Ornament to the finished design. You can sublimate on either side of the ornament. Once taped, flip the ornament so that the secured design is on top.
Step 7: It’s time for the "Sublimation Sandwich"! Add a layer of siliconized protective paper to the top and bottom of your Maple Ornament. Ensure the secured project is positioned within the sandwich with the copy paper on top of the blank.
Step 8: Sublimate the Maple Ornament for 45 seconds at 400℉.
Step 9: Time for the "Peek Test"! Only removing a little tape (or none at all), carefully lift a small portion of your art off of the Blank to ensure a good transfer. If you need to re-press, you can since you have not moved the design out of place.
Step 10: This looks great, so we can remove the paper and Heat Tape.
Here is my original design with the sublimated Maple Ornament. I love how the ornament has such a warm tone to it, yet the colors still pop.
Step 10: Once cooled, you can personalize the other side. Tie the included ribbon on to the ornament, and display it proudly!
I seriously love how this Maple Ornament came out! Those capybaras from Heffy Doodle are just so adorable, and I love the pun. I’m excited for it to be on our Christmas tree! I hope you’re enjoying the Artesprix and Heffy Doodle collaboration. I don’t want it to end!
