Thanksgiving Doggie Bib with Artesprix Sublimation Markers
Hi, I am Design Team Member Courtney! This Thanksgiving (as far as food goes) will be my dogs first and I’m not sure she is prepared for all the yummy foods she will be smelling and wishing to eat. So I think it is only fitting to create a bandana with a funny saying for my furry family member project using Artesprix.
Pet owners alike would go the extra mile to have a cute collar or neckwear for their furry family members and I am no different.
Iron-on-Ink is just that. No reading in-between lines here. These sublimation markers (the ink) are handy and readily available to any person wanting to try out sublimation. The iron is that heat source you need to activate that ink. For this project I am making for my furry family member Artesprix has most of the things needed already. Their bandanas are not limited to furry friends either. Maybe a pig would love to sport a fancy bandana? I’d love to see that. All you need is a little creative time, a plain sheet of copy paper, and maybe a furry family member? You could always create one for a friend or for your local animal shelter.
Project Supplies:
- Artesprix Sublimation Markers (so, so many colors to choose from)
- Pet Bandana (small, medium, xlarge sizes, whichever size your pet is)
- Plain Copy Paper
- A Pencil (for tracing)
- A Tracing Light Pad (used for mirroring letters/words)
- Artesprix Heat Tape
- Artesprix Protective Paper
- A Heat Pressing Pillow
- A Heat Source (home iron, heat press, etc.)
Step by Step Tutorial:
Step 1: First while using a pencil trace the bandana loosely onto a plain sheet of copy paper.
Step 2: Next use the Artesprix Sublimation Markers to color the area traced. Make sure to keep any mirrored letters/words well inside of the traced area. A Light Pad can be a great tool to help along with the tracing of mirroring letters.
Step 3: After the design is complete adhere to the heat tape to the bandana and the copy paper.
Step 4: Now place a piece of Protective Paper down, the design taped to the bandana on that (design facing up), and another piece of Protective Paper on top of the design. A perfect sublimation sandwich. While using a heat press lay your sublimation sandwich down as is (if using Heat Pressing Pillow lay it down on that) and press for 30 seconds at 400º F.
Step 5: After your heat pressing is complete gently take your sublimation sandwich out. Pull back a corner slightly to see that all of the design transferred.
Step 6: Reveal the design now transferred to the bandana. A Furry Family Member Project Using Artesprix completed!
You can see lots of great tips and projects on the Artesprix website. Look at this adorable furry family member project using Artesprix created by Jenn Powell or check out Ivy’s creation for a not so furry but still 100% cuddly cute pet.
I think this Thanksgiving is going to be a tad bit more special with a new furry family member experiencing all the smells. I can’t wait to see her reaction. Have a furry friend to show off? Make them a sublimated bandana and be sure to show it off!
