Hello all, Design Team Member Lori here, with a new Artesprix Blank of the Month project. This December Artesprix is featuring a set of Maple Ornaments. We are going to use the Heffy Doodle their “Udderly Fabulous” stamp set to turn this ornament into a gift tag. What is Sublimation Iron-on-Ink?
It is an interesting and fun product that allows you to create a design on standard copy paper that can then be heat transferred onto surfaces (must have polyester in it or have a polyester coating). Once the project is transferred to the blank, it is lifetime permanent. Before Artesprix, you would need a fancy printer to experience this level of personalization, but not anymore!
Supplies:
HeffyDoodle – Udderly Fabulous Stamp Set
Pencil
Paint Brush
Computer Paper
Heat Press, Handheld Craft Press, or Home Iron
Step-by-Step Tutorial:
Step 1: Trace the Maple Ornament onto a plain piece of copy paper with a pencil, the pencil will not transfer.
Step 2: Stamp images from Heffy Doodle’s Udderly Fabulous Stamp set with Black Sublimation Stamp Ink.
Step 3: Stamp “Herd it was your Birthday” onto an Artesprix Mirror Stamp plate then transfer the image onto the paper.
Pro Tip: Use a stamp positioning tool with your mirror stamp plate to give the ability to re-apply ink if needed.
Step 4: Color design with Artesprix Sublimation Markers.
Step 5: Place Maple Ornament onto finished design and secure with heat tape.
Step 6: Flip secured project over and create a "Sublimation Sandwich" by placing it between two pieces of protective paper.
Step 7: Heat set using appropriate settings for the blank. These Maple Ornaments call for 45 seconds at 400℉.
Step 8: After heat set, take-a-peek at the transfer to ensure the sublimation process was successful. Do not remove heat tape until transfer is confirmed. Re-heat if needed.
Step 9: Remove paper to reveal the transferred image.
Step 10: Allow to cool before transferring to the other side. Tie a bow with a coordinating piece of ribbon.
I sure hope you enjoyed this ornament project turned gift tag! It is definitely the perfect way to elevate your next gift wrapping opportunity, no matter what the occasion. You could do this with sublimation bag tag or key chains too. Artesprix’s Sublimation Iron-on-Ink products are the perfect way to add an extra personal touch to your gifts this holiday season. If you try this project, please share it with us in the Artesprix Facebook Group, we would love to see it.
Happy Day!
Lori Warren
