Quilt Copycat Patterned Glitter Zip Case with Sublimation Paint
It’s Mandie from Mandie’s Scrappin’ bringing you another Artesprix Iron-on-Ink project, and this time it’s the beautiful Glitter Zip Case Sublimation Blank. I fell in love with this blank the first time I saw it and really wanted to do something special with it. Well, I was walking the floor at a trade show recently and saw this amazing quilt and felt inspired to translate it into ink and paper for my Sublimated Glitter Zip Case with Artesprix Sublimation Craft Inks.

What is Sublimation Iron-on-Ink?
Iron-on-Ink is an innovative craft sublimation medium to create unique designs that you can transfer to a endless selection of blanks. You can create some amazing one-of-a-kind gifts that will last a lifetime. When the finished sublimation design is combined with heat and pressure, the ink turns into a gas and binds to the polyester fabric or poly-coated blank leaving you with a permanent transfer. Between Artesprix's plethora of Iron-on-Ink products and the endless amount of compatible sublimation blanks, the possibilities are endless! Artesprix is fabulous because you don’t have to invest in an expensive printer to create some very cool projects right in your home! Plus, if you’re more “hands on” or “hands inky” like me, I feel you can get so much more creative with the Sublimation Inks, Paints and Markers that Artesprix offers.
Supplies:
Sublimation Markers Basic Fine 10 Ct
Copy Paper
Paint Brush
Pencil
Water
Non-Porous Surface
Step-by-Step Tutorial:
Step 1: Start by using the Artesprix Stamp Ink Dropper Bottles to paint on a sheet of blank copy paper. Add water with a brush to thin the ink just a tad on a porous surface. We want to ensure the design is saturated for this project.
Step 2: Overlap between the colors to create the in-between shades as well. Add a few extra mixed colors at the bottom of the sheet.
Step 3: Use a hexagon paper punch to make a hand-full of different colored hexagons. Cut all of them in half.
Step 4: Use a ruler or straight edge and your Black Sublimation Marker to create a series of 5 lines, making the middle line a bit thicker. Then punch out more hexagons, and cut those in half also.
Step 5: Trace your Glitter Zip Case onto a sheet of blank copy paper with a pencil to create a template.
Step 6: Use a tape runner to add a small amount of adhesive to the paper with your blank traced on it and lay down the pieces of your hexagons in the chosen pattern.
Step 7: Create pattern fills the entire template.
Optional: Trim off the top and bottom a blank border at the top and bottom of the Glitter Zip Case so that it is undecorated.
Step 8: Use Heat Tape to adhere the Glitter Zip Case to the design.
Step 9: Make a "Sublimation Sandwich" to get ready to transfer. Cut 3 pieces of Protective Paper, one for the top, one for the bottom and one for inside the zip case. Ensure it is positioned as shown with the paper secured face-down on the top side of your "sandwich".
Step 10: The recommended time and temperature for the Glitter Zip Case is 400℉
for 45 seconds.
Step 11: Carefully do a "peek test" without moving anything – and WOW do those colors pop! You can now peel off the rest of the paper to reveal your finished project.
Once again, I’m awed by how my colors changed once the sublimation process is complete. Because this case is double sided, when I’m feeling inspired again I can decorate the other side if I choose. I can’t wait to add my art supplies to this beautiful Glitter Zip Case! These Glitter Zip Cases are new to the Shop so be sure to give them a try!
