Artesprix Sequin Pillow Mandala
Hi everyone!
Allison here and I am back with one of my favorite Blank of the Month projects so far! For April, Artesprix is featuring a Sequin Pillow Case that is compatible with Iron-on-Ink. Draw any design on plain copy paper using Iron-on-Ink markers and transfer it to this Blank of the Month Sequin Pillow Case! Here is a sneak peak of the project.
I used a Mandala stencil for inspiration and an array of Sublimation Marker colors from Artesprix to achieve this project. Let me show you how to do it right here!
What are Artesprix Sublimation Markers?
Artesprix Sublimation Markers allow you to draw any design onto regular copy paper and transfer it to any blank with Polyester using a heat source. You could make anything for sublimation with your personalized touch using Artesprix products!
Supplies needed for this project:
- Pastel Sublimation Markers
- Primary Sublimation Markers
- Heat Tape
- Protective Paper Roll
- Project Mat
- Heat Press
- Artesprix April Blank of the Month - Sequin Pillow Case
- Copy Paper
- Pencil
- Large Mandala Stencil
- We are Memory Keepers Marker Airbrush
Step by Step Tutorial:
Step 1. Use a regular sheet of copy paper large enough to cover the pillow. Trace your pillow with a pencil so you know how much area you have to work with. Step 2. Place Mandala stencil in center of traced area of paper and secure using Artesprix Heat Tape.Step 3. Use a pencil and create your design using your pencil first. Then remove stencil when complete.Step 4. Chose any color(s) of Artesprix Sublimation Makers and color your design. The more color the better! Use the We are Memory Keepers Airbrush with any Artesprix Sublimation color and spray ink all around your design. This is such a fun touch you can add to any Iron-on-Ink project.Step 5. Use your hands to smooth out pillow case so that all WHITE sequins are showing. The WHITE sequins will receive your design once the transfer has taken place.Step 6. Secure your colored Iron-on-Ink design to the white sequins using Artesprix Heat Tape.Step 7. Set your Artesprix Heat Press to 400 Degrees Fahrenheit and timer to 60 seconds.
Step 8. Create your Artesprix Sublimation Sandwich. Secure design face down to polyester side of blank. Place a sheet of Artesprix Protective paper on bottom of blank. Place your project with design on top. Then cover entire project with another sheet of Artesprix Protective Paper. Your sheets of protective paper should be larger than your project that is prepared for transferring.Step 9. Place your Artesprix project in your Artesprix Heat Press. I actually used a larger Air Fusion heat press that we have in the Artesprix Laboratory (spoiled I know!) for this since it was on hand. However, if you do use an Artesprix Heat Press you can press it twice like Nicole's BOTM blog that is up! ***REMEMBER have your design facing the white sequins and secured with Artesprix Heat Tape but on TOP of your Sublimation Sandwich.*** Leave a comment below if you have any other questions! Step 10. Wait for timer and complete your Peak Test! Gently, take a peak and see if your design transferred to your blank properly and vividly *without removing heat tape*. If your design did not transfer properly, double check your time, temperature, and pressure.
Step 11. ENJOY YOUR PILLOW! Wow! I LOVE how you can move the sequins around and still come back to an amazing Iron-on-Ink design. There are so many things you could design and write on this pillow! A secret message design would be cute too...
I really enjoyed this Blank fo the Month (if you couldn't tell). Be sure not to forget and PIN this Artesprix Sequin Pillow April Blank of the Month Project for later!
